Was Brendan Reading?

As I mentioned in the previous post, I was casting envious glances at Borussia Dortmund's romantic attack. Their "heavy metal" football, gegenpress, counter-attacking, fleet-footed ruthlessness practiced by a close-knit group of savvy, young, prodigious, burgeoning world-class talents. The style that propelled Dortmund, with no small influence from their mad wizard manager Jurgen Klopp, to last year's Champions League semi-final and previous two seasons' Bundesliga titles. All of this in the face of the towering colossus that is FC Bayern Munich.

Well, that was November 27th, 2013.

Admiration of Rhine-Ruhr Heavy-Metal

It's not all that difficult to draw comparisons between Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. Dortmund, pop. 572,087; Liverpool, pop. 552,267* and give-or-take 900km of separation. Locally, traditional blue-collar support from cities with big ports. The Südtribüne a Teutonic rival to our Kop end. Even our respective derby rivals, Schalke 04 and Everton, both wear blue while our big-tent nemeses, Bayern Munich and Manchester United, both wear red. Liverpool's all-red kit, for danger, for power, with Dortmund's black-and-yellow reminiscent of bees, road signs, Wiz Khalifa and other things to avoid whenever possible. I suppose that's, unfortunately, where the similarities end. It's not that I wish Liverpool were to become Dortmund but, as Brendan Rodgers himself has pointed out, there's a lot the Merseysiders could learn from these guys on the Ruhr.

Hiatus and My Left Shift Key

Hello. So it seems I missed some Liverpool goals midweek including a stunner from Luis Suarez! Of course. Problem was, my motherboard (or something?) decided it was about bloody well time it nuked itself into an unrecognizable mess. Also, apparently, the motherboard is sort-of important in the whole, you know, making computers run business.
